blog ‘lovin’

have you met the adorably talented sisters and team over at a beautiful mess yet!? i’ve been stalking them for years. elsie not only  owns a boutique, but runs a successful blog that ‘focuses on creating a beautiful life.’ i love that she mixes it up between styling, handmade projects, recipes, photography, decor, etc. you get the point, she’s a never ending resource of inspiration. the graphic eye candy’s had me hooked!

elsie’s sister emma contributes recipes on top of keeping up with her own blog food coma. her sweet treats look to die for. i’ve especially been drawn to her speciality drinks, as i’ve got a craving for anything liquid these days. here are a few that look absolutely delicious with links to make on your own!

strawberry boba slushie

spiced apple cider

salted caramel hot chocolate
funfetti milkshake
ice-cream included?! we’re definitely trying this last one at home tonight. have a sweet weekend!

if we’re casting our votes, mine goes to kristen wiig. obviously michelle williams knocked it out the park by all means, but if i were headed to the oscars per say, this look is something i’d totally rock. although i’d probably ask j mendel for the black version. some may call it boring, but i think there’s something sexy about her  effortless beauty. who cares what the fashion police say, this confident look is hot! blonde, your vote…

love all around

a gigantic thank you to eris, jess and my little sis christine for throwing paul and i the most perfect baby shower this past weekend. the three of you thought of absolutely everything and made it evident your hearts are full of love for the two of us and little e on the way;) we’re super lucky to have you in our lives! i’ll leave details on all the crafty elements up to the ladies, as they went entirely all out. although i will brag that they rocked it! to my girlies and the rest of our family and friends who helped plan and celebrate, we can’t thank you enough for your generosity! xoxo, k+p

progress

painting my miniature’s wall took a bit longer than expected! but i guess that comes with the territory of being a perfectionist. an expanding belly didn’t help matters either. i laid out the pattern in cad, drew the lines by hand and went to town with a quarter inch paint brush. nuts, i know. i’ve gotta give some credit to paulie p and my mom who jumped in on finishing the second coat when i came down with the flu. you know it’s bad when i pass over the brush. although it took forever, i have to say i enjoyed every bit of it and am thrilled with how it turned out. baby girl better love it! onto the smaller details…

daydreaming

being sick while pregnant is the absolute worst. basically you’re left to suck it up and bear on. i’ve got no options but to dream of a cozy unkept bed. any of these would do…

triangle love

i’ve recently begun a love affair with the triangle. there’s something about the simple geometry and the endless patterns it can create, which the pages of my sketchbook can prove. some particular imagery caught my eye last night and got me in a crafty mood to create something of my own. with the help of my trusty sharpie and some washi tape laying around, i went to town decorating this months diy calendar and am pretty psyched with how it turned out.

going manual

i became the owner of a canon eos rebel t1i three years ago, and regretfully have been shooting in program mode ever since. in hopes of incorporating some of our own colorful photography into the blog, eris and i took part in project basho this past weekend. their dslr tutorial 1: exposure class provided the basic knowledge we’ll need to take over our cameras. we still need lots of practice, but i think we’ve got the basics down to shoot away. i’ve stared at this cheat sheet i stumbled upon awhile back, forever now, but i might be able to say i actually understand the thing now (well kind of). it’s definitely getting printed and taped to my side from here on out!

and just for kicks, have you seen this beauty?! i die.

making wishes come true

as you may have heard, a certain blonde recently turned the big three-zero. this time last week eris and i were catching a flight to dallas for a surprise visit. however in the mean time, said thoughtful chick deserved a hand crafted gift delivered on her birthday. and what better way to throw any suspected thoughts and/or wishful thinking out the window. i figured i’d try my hands at a crepe paper piñata…numbers none the less (seen here)…rub in the pain in a pretty way.

at roughly 15″ high, they were the perfect size to stuff with small scaled presents. i completely glued them shut with no trap doors or strings to pull, thinking i’d be able to keep her out. i would have stared at them for weeks with anticipation, jess on the other hand couldn’t take the suspense and dug right in!

p.s. if you were wondering…we got her good when we appeared at her desk friday afternoon!
