a closer look inside our bags: black

you wanna know what’s inside this girls bag? uo convertible knit gloves for easy access typing on the train and keeping warm on the walk through town. aveda hand relief to make sure those cold, dry hands are hydrated. a fun patterned marimekko umbrella in case the sky opens up. a baggu for those unexpected shopping trips before heading home. a moleskin pocket notebook and lots of ultra fine point sharpies just in case. burt’s bees beeswax lip balm cause i’m addicted to the peppermint oil. an adorable fossil key-per frame coin purse that’s perfect for small girlie stuff, gifted by my blonde counterpart of course. and last but not least, my beloved orla kiely big zip wallet that i don’t think i’ll ever part with!

27 weeks

twentyseven weeks marks the beginning of my third trimester. current stats: plus ten pounds and nine inches, belly buttons out, hairs growing like a weed, no marks yet, baby girl’s wiggling all about and giving my ribs a good jostling, i’ll never be able to buy glad odor shield trash bags or walk past au bon pain the same again, nursery’s a work in progress, classes are scheduled and the anxiety that this is really happening is starting to set in (cause you really wanted to know all that)! i have a feeling this miniature is gonna be here before we know it.

black and white

if you haven’t already been able to tell, i’ve got a thing for stripes. and particularly the contrast between interior black and white lines. in my eyes there’s nothing bolder than a white envelope juxtaposed by distinct black architectural statements. whether horizontal/vertical, below/above, hard/soft, the more the better!

where the cool babes live

the inevitable question i’m asked these days is, what color are you painting the nursery? and when i answer with gray, the snarls begin. what did you expect! there’s no hiding that bold graphic statements have always hit the spot and it’s known my heart has belonged to black for as long as i can remember. i’ve always envisioned a subtle canvas with a sophisticated palette of rich color, pattern and texture for our babes abode. with an obsession for hand crafted projects and the inspiration of the interior photographed above, a scheme unfolded before my very own eyes…gray walls, black graphics, shag rug, red chair, midcentury finds, fuchsia pops, paper mache, garlands, stripes, patterned threads, woven textures, stuffed creatures… just wait and see!

wear to wall

i swore the words would never come out of my mouth, but i think i’m currently loving me some pink. that is, an intense saturated pink. there’s something surprisingly quirky about the contrast created with a rich red that has me intrigued. from fashion to print, the trend seems to have taken way. my wheels are spinning for a graphic interpretation of my own.

snap on it

there’s something about capturing the day-to-day that puts a smile on my face when looking back on the past year. inspired by various iterations of project 365, i ambitiously set out to snap at least once a day with hopes of collaging an entire year. half way through, a certain little bump in the road brought my project to a halt. this year, i’m on it! i’m joining my virtual friends and taking part in the PHOTO A DAY CHALLENGE #janphotoaday via instagram. bring it, 2012!

23 weeks

we’ve only just begun and we’re already adding to our clan with a miniature girlie on the way. 23 weeks in and highly anticipated. there’s no telling where this little lady will fit in seeing as mama’s got black locks as opposed to dad’s dirty blonde. up next, a nursery to design..!
