always collecting more than she can carry. i’m sad to say maybe some of my ocd tendencies have rubbed off.

definitely a no-fear water baby this summer. her reaction to dunking her head is classic…an initial look of shock followed by some contagious giggles. stay forever summer!

i don’t know what it is about hitting the one year mark, but i feel like things have definitely become a lot less complicated around here. summer may have something to do with it. longer days give us a few extra hours to relax and enjoy this little ball of life before bedtime comes. these laid back nights are clearly doing wonders for our family of three and ease the tug of being away all day long.

summer lovin’

summer lovin

we’ve been home from vacation for two weeks now and we’re still having a hard time facing reality. there’s something magical about long summer days that seem to slow down the clock and reinforce the desire for relaxation. we were lucky enough to spend an entire week on hilton head island doing absolutely nothing. it was refreshing to put all our other responsibilities aside and totally tune into this baby of ours. oh my how things have changed since last year. to watch her explore and take everything in is something else. i hope she remembers these traditions we’re starting and looks back on them with sweet memories as i do today myself.

currently reading: gone girl by gillian flynn. i’m embarrassed to admit it’s been exactly a year since i opened a real live book. which means my expectations are high. i’m here to report that this read has yet to disappoint. while i didn’t get as lost as i would have liked while ocean side last week, i’m definitely hooked and itching to turn the page.

currently running: that’s right. thanks to peer pressure, i owe two certain somebodies for getting my butt back in gear. and some new kicks. i have to say it felt good to hit the pavement and sweat a few beads. i’m sure the company and palm tree lined path had some influence as well. the key now is to stay on track and kick it up a notch in my own neighborhood.

currently anticipating: some face time with my favorite texans. even if only for a few hours. these are my people and i’ll take what i can get. and let’s not forget the arrival of our littlest boyfriend who’s due to show his face any day now. eeks!

currently loving: 14 months. aside from the ugly temper that’s beginning to show it’s nasty face, this kid is pretty much amazing. i look forward to her crazy personality and contagious laugh all the day long. now if only she could talk!

currently feeling: settled in. to motherhood that is. i must admit that first year was a bit of a shock to my system and it took some major patience and getting used to. recently i’ve learned to embrace this new version of myself and it feels pretty cozy. stay tuned, as there’s plenty more where this came from.

expecting a one year old to sit, stay and smile is without a doubt unattainable. i’m forced to ditch our monthly posed portrait, however i’ve found that this mini human of mine is changing at rapid speed and i’m yearning to document it all. shocking, right!? what better place than this here blog. so here goes 14 months of lo…

says: she’s graduated from dada + mama to daddy + mommy and has added hi, bye, baby, cat, shoe, calie, chris and drue to her repertoire. and battery. and yes, you read that correct.

signs: more + please. we’re working on thank you.

gestures: waves with a hello + goodbye and blows kisses to absolutely everyone in site. deliberately nods her head yes to most every question. puts her index finger to her mouth and says ‘shhh’ when we tell her baby drue is sleeping. and dances to my command of ‘wiggle it’!

chomper count: 7 plus 4 wicked molars that have just begun to show their faces.

eats: she’ll chow just about anything but devourers pickles, mushrooms and beans.

loves: anything to do with kitty cats! mothering her baby dolls all day long. balls, trucks + dinosaurs and pbs kids, particularly curious george and dinosaur train.

loathes: a diaper change. to the point of a full blown tantrum that ends with a bare bum roaming the house and eventually a puddle of pee. i give up!

sleeping: 12 hour nights, following an hour long solo singing performance in her crib accompanied by an epic afternoon nap.

vices: bottle, nay. paci, yay.

this kid must be growing like a weed by the habbits of her current sleep schedule. waking up at ten and napping for four hours an afternoon leaves a very small window of opportunity to get your play on. when not snoozing, lo spent sunday exploring our backyard. we spent sunday scheming our plan of attack for finishing up our outdoor space, which will most definitely include some mini details.

philly flea

2013.05.31the six of us have ventured to brooklyn on several occasions for the one and only…brooklyn flea. we’ve scowered both one hanson in the winter and fort greene in the summer and have plenty of tales to tell. lucky for us (that is a particular four of us) the flea is headed to philly, launching this sunday at the piazza in northern liberties. i’m assuming we’re down to check it out and most definitely bump-ing into brunette and her baby daddy. with over one hundred vendors we’re bound to stumble upon some treasures and if nothing else i’m sure we’ll devour plenty of delicious treats. be good to us philly flea.
