little teether

i think it’s safe to say somebody’s begun teething over here. a lovely weekend spent visiting with aunt lolli quickly crashed and burned after her sunday night departure. our usually content little lady has since become the saddest nugget on earth. the tears are laying on thick to the point of making herself sick and we can’t seem to put this chica down without having a major meltdown. my heart is breaking. if it means holding a teether to her mouth and spending another night’s sleep with a baby on my chest, so be it. anything to make this sad girl feel better!

logan month-by-month

drum roll please. logan is 6 months old and currently…

EATING: sweet potatoes and apples. so far so good. SLEEPING: through the night! i reintroduced the crib bumper and now our wiggle worm comfortably bounces around in the night and doesn’t make a peep. this makes for some well rested adults. MOVING: like a jumping bean in her favorite jumperoo. girl makes us sick to watch but absolutely loves the thing. and when we can’t contain her in it, she’s off and wiggling her way through the house. INTENT ON: brown dog. she’ll sit and follow calie around the room forever with a little smile on her face. she’s in love, and it’s a shame the dog could care less. PLAYING WITH: her giant bla bla kitty that’s been sitting on a shelf. the thing is twice her size and it looks silly to watch them play. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT: how to sit up. she’s trying her hardest to twist and prop herself up off her belly. LISTENING TO: her daddy sing. i haven’t heard it, but I hear she’s mesmerized and gives him a solid stare. i can only imagine why. i’m totally sneaking home early one night. TALKING ABOUT: girls got a case of the giggles. that’s right, a whole lot of them! little chica’s bff auntie chris won the first squeal and she’s been making noise ever since. i must admit it’s the sweetest sound ever.

where has the time gone?! i’ll be planning a birthday before i know it. slow down little friend. if you can’t tell, i couldn’t be more in love with and can’t get enough of this sweet baby of mine. this kid makes me the happiest!

FALL FUN

mom of the year over here. all wrapped up in the moment, never to notice the wonky camera settings until it was too late. even filtered over, they’re totally overexposed. i shed a quick tear and moved on…it was a perfect weekend otherwise!

friday night, my guy and i had drinks and a late night dinner, a-l-o-n-e. we’re discovering these dates are much needed and we should take advantage of grandparents nearby more often. it felt great to start off the weekend reconnected and in tune with each other. saturday was spent wandering the city with brunette and her mister. coffee and a long lunch at parc (shocking, right?), some rittenhouse shopping and lots of overdue catching up over dinner back at a special old city loft. sunday morning, lo and i were off to a friend’s farm for some pumpkin picking. the weather was perfect and we literally had the place to ourselves. a few hours later we came home with a trunk full of fall and spent from a weekend of fun. i’ll take weekends like this anytime! (even if the documentation is crap).

life lately

not much to report on over here, so i figure i’d overload you with pictures of my cute kid. who by the way is growing by the minute. that thing called balance that i’ve talked about here before…yeah, it’s not always so easy to come by. time is flying and there aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish everything on my list as well as take some time out to mug on those chubby cheeks. i apologize for my random acts of absence from this space. some days you just have to turn off.

autumn air

like my brunette bud, I have a major crush on fall. and now that the temps finally broke and the mosquitoes left town, autumn is definitely in the air. I’ve had candy apples, cider donuts, spice lattes and pumpkins on the brain as of late. it only made perfect sense to kick off the season this past weekend at one of my favorites, linvilla orchards. us big kids satisfied our cravings and chucked a few apples while lo was mesmerized by all the barn yard folk. I hope lots of outdoor family activities are in this autumns future.

logan month-by-month

girlies five months. wait, what!?! this mini human, no doubt about it, has become our best little bud. and since she’s so laid back, she’s totally content on my hips and easy to bring along almost anywhere. this has made our transition into parenthood that much easier and enjoyable, especially since we don’t have many mini friends just yet. we’ll take it while we can, before she starts crawling off into toddler-hood. we’re pretty much obsessed and can’t get enough cuddles and coos (still dying for that giggle). so true that every stage becomes your favorite and that with every month you feel you’ve got this new gig down better than the last. until next month…

earning her wings

i have to admit, the thought of flying with a baby was a bit intimidating. you’re the person everyone stares at while you parade down the aisle, in hopes that you don’t take the seat next to them. although it was scary, we made it! with flying colors! we learned a few tips and tricks along the way… exhibit a: throw a blanket [preferably a large changing mat that won’t suck up all the nasty] on the terminal floor and let your mini sprawl out and make lots of noise before boarding. exhibit b: do everything in your power to sit together [we were lucky enough to have friendly strangers switch around and make this happen] and occupy your mini for as long as possible before takeoff. exhibit c: layer that mini up, making her real warm and cozy. and the minute that aircraft starts moving, start feeding! if you’re lucky [like us] she’ll crash and sleep through the entire flight. i think you’ve passed the test when everyone jumps up to exit the plane and are shocked to see a baby in your arms. we’ll be taking this lady on many more adventures!

deep in the heart

our best-est of friends moved southwest last year and we miss them like mad on a daily basis. it was time we reconnect and acquaint logan with m+j. and, i just had to get my eyes [and hands] on that belly before it’s too late. that said, we spent this past weekend in dallas. basically we ate, and ate again, and ate some more and giggled like school girls while doing so. and thank heavens logan traveled and tagged along like a rockstar, cause if these two aren’t coming home anytime soon, i see lots of flying in our future. we just can’t live without them! thanks for having all three of us! until november [with the entire clan]…
