FALL FUN

mom of the year over here. all wrapped up in the moment, never to notice the wonky camera settings until it was too late. even filtered over, they’re totally overexposed. i shed a quick tear and moved on…it was a perfect weekend otherwise!

friday night, my guy and i had drinks and a late night dinner, a-l-o-n-e. we’re discovering these dates are much needed and we should take advantage of grandparents nearby more often. it felt great to start off the weekend reconnected and in tune with each other. saturday was spent wandering the city with brunette and her mister. coffee and a long lunch at parc (shocking, right?), some rittenhouse shopping and lots of overdue catching up over dinner back at a special old city loft. sunday morning, lo and i were off to a friend’s farm for some pumpkin picking. the weather was perfect and we literally had the place to ourselves. a few hours later we came home with a trunk full of fall and spent from a weekend of fun. i’ll take weekends like this anytime! (even if the documentation is crap).

hello world

yesterday, we waited on the edge of our seats, all jittery and anxious in anticipation of the newest member of our blog family – baby blonde. she finally arrived at 5:38pm and is perfect in every possible way! both ladies are fantastic and anxious to get home. we’ll leave the official introduction to mama blonde, but we just had to share the news with the world. we’re two happy aunties and one mini bestie who can’t wait to get our hands on this sweet baby girl. congratulations m+j!                   love to all – kim + eris

mini favorites

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

to a 4 month old, there’s nothing better than sprawling your legs out on a snazzy blanket surrounded by all your friends within arms reach. these are some of lo’s favorite things that just so happen to be aesthetically appealing enough to be some of my favorite things too!

earning her wings

i have to admit, the thought of flying with a baby was a bit intimidating. you’re the person everyone stares at while you parade down the aisle, in hopes that you don’t take the seat next to them. although it was scary, we made it! with flying colors! we learned a few tips and tricks along the way… exhibit a: throw a blanket [preferably a large changing mat that won’t suck up all the nasty] on the terminal floor and let your mini sprawl out and make lots of noise before boarding. exhibit b: do everything in your power to sit together [we were lucky enough to have friendly strangers switch around and make this happen] and occupy your mini for as long as possible before takeoff. exhibit c: layer that mini up, making her real warm and cozy. and the minute that aircraft starts moving, start feeding! if you’re lucky [like us] she’ll crash and sleep through the entire flight. i think you’ve passed the test when everyone jumps up to exit the plane and are shocked to see a baby in your arms. we’ll be taking this lady on many more adventures!

reminiscing

exactly a year ago, we found out we were pregnant! it was a long time coming and totally caught us off guard in the end. it really seems like forever and a day ago. our lives were forever changed that august morning! i’m hoping for a date night in our near future, even if only to reminisce on the past year. any exciting plans for your weekend?

a day in the life

everyone is always questioning what i do all day. besides feeding and changing little lo around the clock, we actually do find time for quite a lot…8:00am up and at ’em, 9:00am breakfast, 10:00am bath, 11:00am quick snooze while the big kids eat, 12:00pm lunch, 1:00pm questioning the european souvenirs brought home from nana, 2:00pm playing with friends, 3:00pm afternoon snack, 4:00pm nap, 5:00pm hanging with great grammy at a family birthday party, 6:00pm dinner, 7:00 crashed for the night. or something like that anyway.

flippin’

as you can see, we’ve been pretty busy over here this week. our little chickie taught herself to flip over and blow raspberries. in other words…i’m exhausted. why sleep when there’s more exciting things to be done?! here’s hoping for a relaxing weekend with lots of family naps. happy friday!

balance

if you don’t already know, i absolutely hate change. i welcome it with open arms but it throws me for a loop every time. i’m a creature of habit. and welcoming a mini human into our lives definitely shook things up and took awhile getting used to. on top of those initial first weeks battling the postpartum baby blues, i yearned for the comfort of my independent life pre baby. and just as i started to feel confident in my new role as mama/housewife, the real world lurked my return right around the corner and the anxiety of changing things up yet again started to get the best of me. as much as i wanted to become part of an adult society again, i had horrible guilt of leaving my mini behind to be someone else’s daily responsibility. my heart was heavy that last week home, and that first kiss goodbye hurt like hell…but when I stepped off the train into the hectic city streets that Monday morning, i felt a certain peace that this is where I’m supposed to be. it was as if i had never left and the comforts of ‘home’ all came flooding back. i knew it’d take time, but the balance that this change has brought on feels amazing. im able to be creative by day and nurturing by night, and fortunately able to break up the rhythm with a day spent crushing on that adorably chubby babe that still remembers my role. it felt like forever, but i embraced it as best i knew how and it seems to have all worked out in the end. it’s good to be ME again!
