FALL FUN

mom of the year over here. all wrapped up in the moment, never to notice the wonky camera settings until it was too late. even filtered over, they’re totally overexposed. i shed a quick tear and moved on…it was a perfect weekend otherwise!

friday night, my guy and i had drinks and a late night dinner, a-l-o-n-e. we’re discovering these dates are much needed and we should take advantage of grandparents nearby more often. it felt great to start off the weekend reconnected and in tune with each other. saturday was spent wandering the city with brunette and her mister. coffee and a long lunch at parc (shocking, right?), some rittenhouse shopping and lots of overdue catching up over dinner back at a special old city loft. sunday morning, lo and i were off to a friend’s farm for some pumpkin picking. the weather was perfect and we literally had the place to ourselves. a few hours later we came home with a trunk full of fall and spent from a weekend of fun. i’ll take weekends like this anytime! (even if the documentation is crap).

currently

one of my daily blog reads has inspired me to document the current happenings. you know me…this is right up my alley.

watching: grey’s anatomy. am i the only soul on earth still tuning in after 900 years?! whatever, i’m hooked. although i have to admit the new season is off with a blah, especially after killing off some of my favorites. i also spent some time this weekend catching up on my kardashians. a little trash never hurt anyone!

listening to: i still have coldplay’s mylo xyloto on repeat in the car and maroon 5’s overexposed blasting at the gym. maybe time for something new? suggestions are welcome!

thinking about: blonde and her sweet little babe. i can’t get them off my mind and am dying to meet that nugget. november can’t come soon enough!

trying to figure out: feeding a mini. introducing cereal was one thing. food on the other, is super intimidating.

looking forward to: the weekend! we’ve got some fun things planned. a date in the city with brunette and her mr. on saturday. apparently it’ll be an all day affair, as someone misses my monkey. fine by me! and off to a family farm on sunday to visit with old friends and pumpkin pick. sounds perfect!

reading: nothing. i haven’t been able to find time since little lo’s arrival, other than my nightly blog roll. however this has been sitting on my nightstand and after last nights shenanigans it may be time to crack it open. although who can complain about a snugly little thing blowing raspberries next to you in the middle of the night?!

making me happy: crisp mornings, jean jackets and dark polish. big brown eyes and chubby dimpled hands. talk of halloween costumes. getting my craft on after a long hiatus. hitting the gym. and the thought of whisking off to the big apple with my guy for a few days.

so what about you? don’t be shy!

hello world

yesterday, we waited on the edge of our seats, all jittery and anxious in anticipation of the newest member of our blog family – baby blonde. she finally arrived at 5:38pm and is perfect in every possible way! both ladies are fantastic and anxious to get home. we’ll leave the official introduction to mama blonde, but we just had to share the news with the world. we’re two happy aunties and one mini bestie who can’t wait to get our hands on this sweet baby girl. congratulations m+j!                   love to all – kim + eris

and another month bites the dust. nine down, three to go. so close! although i wouldn’t mind if these next three months slowed down a bit. my absolute favorite time of year already seems to be slipping through the cracks. onto october.

life lately

not much to report on over here, so i figure i’d overload you with pictures of my cute kid. who by the way is growing by the minute. that thing called balance that i’ve talked about here before…yeah, it’s not always so easy to come by. time is flying and there aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish everything on my list as well as take some time out to mug on those chubby cheeks. i apologize for my random acts of absence from this space. some days you just have to turn off.

autumn air

like my brunette bud, I have a major crush on fall. and now that the temps finally broke and the mosquitoes left town, autumn is definitely in the air. I’ve had candy apples, cider donuts, spice lattes and pumpkins on the brain as of late. it only made perfect sense to kick off the season this past weekend at one of my favorites, linvilla orchards. us big kids satisfied our cravings and chucked a few apples while lo was mesmerized by all the barn yard folk. I hope lots of outdoor family activities are in this autumns future.

remembering

eleven years ago today…i remember walking out of my morning class with a rushed sense of confusion and panic coming from the buzz i overheard on campus, like it was yesterday. the urgent need to be connected and hear it for myself. i planted myself in front of the television for days with a heavy heart for the tragic stories i watched play out. i knew not a soul involved in the september 11th world trade center attacks, but felt such sorrow for the innocent lives of strangers. to this day, the stories of those heroes suck my attention. i can’t help but think of the lives lost and the families that still suffer from this tragedy today. i’m grateful for our country and the unknown heroes we’re surrounded by.

for reals?! tomorrow is september and a new challenge list begins. i must admit, i’m running out of steam and interest. same time last year i threw in the towel. i’m determined to make it 356 days. for those of you who follow along, i feel your pain and appreciate you sticking around. here’s to a happy last day of august and an even better three day weekend!

earning her wings

i have to admit, the thought of flying with a baby was a bit intimidating. you’re the person everyone stares at while you parade down the aisle, in hopes that you don’t take the seat next to them. although it was scary, we made it! with flying colors! we learned a few tips and tricks along the way… exhibit a: throw a blanket [preferably a large changing mat that won’t suck up all the nasty] on the terminal floor and let your mini sprawl out and make lots of noise before boarding. exhibit b: do everything in your power to sit together [we were lucky enough to have friendly strangers switch around and make this happen] and occupy your mini for as long as possible before takeoff. exhibit c: layer that mini up, making her real warm and cozy. and the minute that aircraft starts moving, start feeding! if you’re lucky [like us] she’ll crash and sleep through the entire flight. i think you’ve passed the test when everyone jumps up to exit the plane and are shocked to see a baby in your arms. we’ll be taking this lady on many more adventures!

deep in the heart

our best-est of friends moved southwest last year and we miss them like mad on a daily basis. it was time we reconnect and acquaint logan with m+j. and, i just had to get my eyes [and hands] on that belly before it’s too late. that said, we spent this past weekend in dallas. basically we ate, and ate again, and ate some more and giggled like school girls while doing so. and thank heavens logan traveled and tagged along like a rockstar, cause if these two aren’t coming home anytime soon, i see lots of flying in our future. we just can’t live without them! thanks for having all three of us! until november [with the entire clan]…
